Marcy Open School offers a learning climate where the student is the center, emphasizing academic achievement as well as personal development that promotes lifelong learning and individual goal setting. Learning takes place in looping classrooms (except kindergarten) where many activities occur at the same time, using an integrated curriculum in which students are taught to take responsibility for themselves and their learning. Teachers function as guides and facilitators of learning. Marcy strongly promotes learning through the arts by involving students in arts activities with local artists through the Marcy Arts Partnership; and emphasizes a commitment to peace education through its membership as an International Peace Site. R.T. Rybak was "principal for a day" at Marcy today. He spent time with Donna visiting classrooms and talking to staff. He is now at Generation Next, an organization focused on closing the achievement gap in education.
Until April 18 you can order the Marcy Yearbook on-line. After April 18 Yearbooks will be available for sale by check or cash only, watch for an order form to go home with students. To order on-line, go to ybpay.lifetouch.com and use Yearbook Code 2360814. Yearbooks are $15.00 each. They will be delivered to students in late May or early June. We have a limited quantity of Yearbooks and sell them until we run out!

MCA testing in reading, math and science will begin after Spring Break for students in grades 3-8. Click here for more information about testing, links to materials that may help your student perpare for the tests, and contact information if you have questions.
Make reservations now for the Family Fiesta Dinner and Talent Show! Thursday, April 17th 5:00-8:00 PM. The Talent Show will begin at 6:45. Dinner is $1.50 for students and $2.50 for adults. Warmer weather is coming!!! Marcy Plant Sale Order Forms will be coming home before Spring Break. There is a 10% discount if you turn in your order forms by April 7th. All paper orders are due by April 19th. The Marcy Plant Sale website is NEW and IMPROVED! ORDER ONLINE at www.marcyplantsale.com. The website is easy to use, full of beautiful photographs of all plants available to us from Pletscher's Greenhouse, as well as an opportunity to purchase Mother Earth Garden gift cards. Buy a Brick, Build a Labyrinth Support the Marcy Open Community and Marcy Holmes Neighborhood in transforming the unusable space next to the playground with a 30 x 30 foot labyrinth as a focal point that will be a permanent Peace destination to all with a donation brick pathway leading to the sidewalk.
