Katie Klinger

Hi, my name is Katie Klinger! This is my third year teaching at Marcy Open School and my third (and one half!) year teaching in MPS. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Elementary Education with a minor in English-Language Arts. I am also currently pursuing my master's degree in Literacy Education and obtaining my K-12 Reading License from the University of Minnesota. However, once a Badger always a Badger! On, Wisconsin!

I am originally from Wauwatosa, WI, but now live in Minneapolis, MN. My fiancé, Calvin, also lives and works in Minneapolis - we're both from Milwaukee so we enjoy going home frequently to spend time with our families. My mom and dad still live in Milwaukee while my brother and sister-in-law live in San Antonio, TX. I also have a puppy, Nellie! In my free time I love to travel, play soccer, watch football (Go Packers!), cook, go skiing, and spend time with my friends and family.

I am also excited to welcome our student teacher, Becca Aaker, for the fall! Becca was a practicum student in our classroom this past spring so we are looking

forward to having her back again. Read more about Becca below:

My name is Becca Aaker and I am student teaching in Room 207 this year! I had the pleasure of working with Katie and many of these bright young minds last spring when I was doing my  practicum at Marcy - I am so excited to be back! I will graduate in December from Augsburg with a degree in K-6 Elementary Education and an endorsement in 6-8 Communication Arts (English Language Arts).

I am originally from Fargo, ND and when I'm not in school or teaching, I have enjoyed running a photography business based out of my hometown and the Minneapolis area. Some of my other hobbies include reading, traveling, and cuddling with my dog, Sophie, a shepherd-mix I adopted last December. I recently traveled to Guatemala, Italy, and Montana and I'm looking forward to planning more adventures for my post-grad life.

I'm so excited to be at Marcy again and I can't wait to learn more from the 4th graders!

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have. We are going to have a great school year together!
