Hello. I am a native Minnesotan, growing up on a farm in Western Minnesota. I graduated from St Cloud State University with a degree in Studio Arts and a degree in Art History. My Art education degree was through the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus. I have been teaching in Minneapolis since 1992. My first twelve years were at Webster Open School followed by five years at North Community High School. I am now working here at Marcy Open. All three of my children went through the Minneapolis Public Schools and have graduated from college.

This year in the Art room lessons are being taught in 10 day blocks for 3/4 and 5/6. This is allowing us to do larger projects and concentrate on a focused concept for those ten days. As the district has mandated a schecule for Art concepts, we are following the Focused Learning Strategies in the Art room. This is new and exciting. This means that all sixth graders are studying the same concepts and will all be ready for the seventh grade concepts the next year. This is being implemented through all grades and integrated throughout the whole district. The rigor and challenges in the Art room are now leveled for each grade and the successful progression of all our students. We are teaching to the whole brain Left as well as right.
