Athletics

The Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) Athletics Department offers 35 programs for students in grades 7-12.  In addition, K-8/middle schools will offer soccer (fall) and track (spring) for students in grades 6-8.  Registration has begun for sports; all students must have a current athletic physical on file with their school.  Parent permission forms are also required for all sports.

Middle school Track 6-8th grade @Marcy

Meets: 
4-21 at North
5-1 at Roosevelt
5-12 at Washburn 
5-19 at Southwest—Will be ran with the JV meet as part of a community engagement event but that is not finalized.  This meet is OPTIONAL
 
Rules Regarding Participation in Middle School Track
For the middle school track meets, athletes are either Middle School or High School athletes.
6th graders can only do middle school.  If you designate an athlete as middle school for the 3 meets that is their season.  
If the 7th and 8th graders are going to compete at the other meets (for a high school) they cannot do middle school also.

Miscellaneous Information
Students may only participate in 3 events per meet.
Programs MUST have 12 students registered and participating (male and female combined), or else the program will be consolidated, or the season will be cancelled.  
 
If the program is cancelled due to lack of participation numbers (12 active participants), the coach will be paid a prorated amount from the beginning of the Middle School season (March 20).
 
It will start April 10th and end May 12th. Practices will be Monday & Wednesday during the 5 weeks of the season. The cost is 25 dollars.
