Classroom Philosophy

Classroom Philosophy

I teach using the Responsive Classroom philosophy and approach. We have a morning meeting, songs, games, morning messages, greetings, sharing, closing circle and guided discoveries on all our classroom materials. I believe that this is a proactive approach to discipline and a solid way to build community. 

 

Responsive Classroom Approach

  • The social curriculum is as important as the academic curriculum
  • How children learn is as important as what children learn
  • The greatest cognitive growth occurs through social interaction
  • Children need a set of social skills in order to be successful academically and socially
  • Knowing the children we teach is as important as knowing the content we teach
  • Knowing the families of the students is is as important as knowing the students
