Katherine Martin - Special Ed Resource Teacher K-3

This is my 3rd year on the Special Education team at Marcy, and I am so happy to be part of the Marcy staff!  Previously, I worked in the Mounds View Schools as a Special Education Paraprofessional and Instructional Paraprofessional, as well as completing my student teaching hours.  I taught in the Elementary and Middle school grades before making the choice to teach to Minneapolis.   I have worked with all 9 grade levels at Marcy, over the past 3 years, so I am privelidged to know most of the staff in the school, and the progression of academics through the grades.  This year I support grades K-3 as a Special Education Resource Teacher.

I have experience supporting and teaching students with Specific Learning Disabilities, Emotional Behavioral Disorders, Austism Spectrum Disorders, Other Health Disabilities, Visual Impairments, Physical Impairments, and Developmental Delay.

I earned my Bachelors degree in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After many years I returned to school to earn my Masters in Education and my Teaching Licensure in Learning Disabilities, Emotional Behavioral Disorders, as well as half of the coursework towards my Austism Licensure, from Bethel University.

Both my husband and I grew up in Minneapolis and are proud alumni of the Minneapolis Public Schools - South High Grads!   Go TIGERS!  Tim has taught in Minneapolis for 20+ years as a Band/Orchestra teacher - currently with the Washburn Bands thriving under his direction.  We are both proud to teach in Minneapolis, and love our students!

We have 3 wonderful children, our oldest 2 in college, and our youngest in 8th grade.  They make us proud every day!

In my spare time I love to spend time with my family, bake, crochet, run, and hang out with my adorable cats!
