ACTION ITEM

1. Resolution to amend Paragraph 1 of Article II of the Marcy Open School Constitution to change Representation and Membership. According to Article X, adoption requires a 2/3 affirmative vote of the full Marcy Leadership Council (9 out of 13 total votes) and ratification by a simple majority of the constituent group members casing ballots.

BE IT RESOLVED the Marcy Leadership Council hereby amends Paragraph 1 of Article II of the Marcy Open School Constitution in the following manner:

Original language:
The Leadership Council shall be comprised of 16 members, of which 50% will be non-staff. The following representatives, selected by constituency, will comprise the membership:

Eight (8) staff members
The Building Principal
Five (5) licensed staff. One member from each of the following voting units: primary, intermediate, middle school, specialists, and an at-large representative
Two (2) non-licensed staff. One member from each of the following voting units: associated educators and the support staff
Four (4) parents, selected by the Marcy Parent Council one of whom will be an officer of the Marcy Parent Council
Two (2) student members
One (1) business partner
One (1) community representative who is not otherwise associated with the school


Proposed Amended Language:

The Leadership Council shall be comprised of 20 members, of which 50% will be non-staff. The following representatives, selected by constituency, will comprise the membership:

Ten (10) staff members
The Building Principal
Seven (7) licensed staff. One member from each of the following voting units: K, primary, intermediate 3/4, intermediate 5/6, middle school, specialists (content area), and specialists (serving special populations)
Two (2) non-licensed staff. Two at-large representatives
Six (6) parents, selected by the Marcy Parent Council, one of whom will be an officer of the Marcy Parent Council
Two (2) students
One (1) business partner
One (1) community representative who is not otherwise associated with the school

DISCUSSION ITEMS

1. Resolution regarding selection of parents representing diverse populations – REMOVED BECAUSE INCONSISTENT WITH DISTRICT POLICY. As stated in Article II of our Constitution, when choosing representatives for Leadership, “[a] concerted effort shall be made to ensure membership on the Leadership Council will be multi-cultural, gender fair, disability aware and be representative of the diversity of the Marcy Open School population.”
