Hello Families and Friends,

Room 205 is off to a great start this year!  Here are a few bits of news and announcements:

Curriculum Night is this Thursday, September 18 from 5-7pm.  There will be an opening meeting in the gym from 5-5:30pm.  You are then invited to visit classrooms.  I will be doing a presentation about the 3rd grade curriculum from 5:45-6:00pm.  Please come if you are able!

- We have a different Centers schedule this year.  We are lucky to have Gym and Music every 3rd day.  The schedule is on a 6 day rotation.  It is as follows:
Day 1- Music
Day 2- Art
Day 3- Gym
Day 4- Music
Day 5- Graphic Arts
Day 6- Gym

The rotation keeps going regardless of how many days are in the school week.  This week, Monday will be Day 3 on our rotation schedule so we will have Gym, Tuesday will be Day 4 etc. I am counting on the 3rd graders to help me keep track of this!

- The Media center should be open soon for book check out.  We will be visiting once a week as soon as it opens.

- We have been having a lot of fun investigating seeds and watching them sprout.  In the next couple of weeks we will be getting crayfish to observe!

- Check your Friday folder for an invitation to Astronomy Night, September 30 at 7:30.  This event is special for Marcy 3rd grade families.  We will be studying Sun, Moon, and Stars in science this year.  We are also planning on a Artist in Residence project incorporating astronomy and the MN Center for Book Arts in March.

Thank you for sharing your third grade students with me.  I hope to see you on Thursday night.
