Social Studies - Sonya Fish

Welcome to the 2016-17 school year! I am thrilled to be joining the Marcy middle school staff this year and look forward to meeting you all throughout the year!

A few things about me... I have been teaching in Minneapolis since 1999 in grades 3-8, but middle school is my favorite! I was born and raised in the Twin Cities and went to Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After teaching there for 3 years, I decided to return to Minneapolis. I live in South Minneapolis with my husband and our 2 children (3rd and 7th grade) and love all the great things our community has to offer.  Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking (and eating, of course), reading, and training our new black lab puppy.

This year I will be teaching 6th grade Minnesota Studies, 7th/8th grade U.S. Studies, and Advisory. I enjoy incorporating the arts into history and offering students a variety of ways to show their learning. Helpful history links and class information will be added here throughout the year. Email is the best way to get in touch with me, but I will also be sending out information on how to sign up for a message service called Remind.

Go Marcy Marlins!
